The Nursery Renovation

If you have not heard, Laura and I are expecting! We will be having a baby boy in our lives very soon. This leads the our current situation. We have a nursery that needs some renovations.

Zach has taken this on with full forces. We began by pulling off some wall paper on the walls. This lead to our discovery that there was 100 year old plaster still up. We decided to take it off. THEN we discovered there is no insulation in the walls. This needs to change for our boy!

This last weekend we dove in and got to work. Demolition is so much fun!

The wallpaper came down

So much plaster!

The plaster had to go!

These slats needed to go too...

Laura and baby hard at work

Those slats have nothin' on me!
We almost have all the slats down now. This weeks project is to insulate and put sheetrock up. More pictures to come!

The Fireplace Hook up!

This last weekend Mark tackled a big and important project: Reconnecting our fireplace. It was starting to get a little cold in our house.

Figuring out how to lift it into place.

With the knees!

Making sure it is just right
Our fireplace is not hooked up and running! Our living room is now feeling so cozy and warm!

We Built/Textured/Painted Some Walls

If Walls Could Talk

As we took off the old baseboards, we decided we would clean out all of the old plaster which had fallen down the wall. This would make room for us to put some insulation in the wall.

To our surprise! We found some cool little treasures!

Them Floors Need Sandin'

We have decided to take on the project of redoing our floors. So, we tore up all the carpet on the first floor, to expose the hardwood. We rented a sander from good ol' Lowes, and Mark, Doris, Laura, and I dove right in!

Sadly, sanders don't really like paint that much... so our project will take a little bit longer than we expected. The process will be posted in the future.

Meanwhile Mark took out a door for us. We are going to wall it up (photos to come later).
